Oxfam has teamed up with YouTube and Cannes Young Lions for an exciting contest. They’re looking for young YouTube filmmakers to create a video that explains why December’s United Nations climate change summit in Copenhagen is one of the most important meetings in human history.
Visit youtube.com/canneslions to take part.
This is a vital time in the fight against climate change. With December’s climate talks fast approaching, this competition is a great way for us to spread the message that climate change costs lives . All films must urge international decision makers to do a deal that slashes carbon emissions and helps developing nations to adapt to the effects of climate change.
Filmmakers must be aged between 18-28 to enter the competition, but if you’re not in this age bracket you can still take part by watching the entries, leaving comments, or forwarding your favourite videos to your friends .
Video entries have to be between 30-60 seconds long, and you can read the competition rules and instructions on how to get involved on YouTube’s website.
Visit youtube.com/canneslions to take part
The deadline for entering is midnight GMT on Sunday 17 May.
Keep an eye out for the winner on youtube.com/canneslions and if you’re planning on entering, good luck!

I learned a lot about Copenhagen because of this ad contest. I lost sleep but it was time-well spent, especially for such an important cause.
I’m asking for votes for my ad. However, I’ve also signed the petition. I believe it’s great that this contest occured. I’m much more informed and have since looked up what people feel about it as well. Brilliant way to reach the youth if you ask me.
Follow these steps to vote for me:
